Classic watches will forever remain a staple accessory for gentlemen. If you want to look in-style at a fancy evening or business event, you will want to have an elegant watch that speaks of luxury. Dress watches are just the right accessory for the job. While I was looking for a new addition to my classic collection, I discovered an intriguing find from a German brand named Tufina Watches. Boston is powered by an in-house automatic movement with 22 rubies. I’ve been wearing it for over a month now and I can confidently say that it is one of my most accurate automatic timepieces. The watch has a dual-time function which adds to its practicality. Moreover, the 24 hour indication for dual-time allows you to reference a time zone that is more than 12 hours apart from your home time zone. The movement is crafted by hand at their laboratories in Munich. The brand’s vision guides them away from mindless mass-production, inspiring them to produce only a limited number of watches for each model. In turn, they achieve the highest level of quality throughout their almost artisanal watch manufacturing process.
The Case
The case is made from high grade stainless steel and 22 karat gold plating of 5 micron. The plating guarantees amazing scratch and corrosion resistance, while the stainless steel is pretty much the industry standard. Thus, you are guaranteed to find a robust and durable timepiece. The polishing is nicely done, allowing for a mirror-like shine and amazing visual appeal. The case is rugged on the side, creating a nice aesthetic with the crown. At a size of 44 mm without the crown, this gorgeous timepiece is eye-catching and yet elegant.
The Dial
The white dial has a multi-tone and multi-texture design. There is an inner compartment with a square-like texture that accentuates the whole dial. A golden outline circles this component. The rest of the dial has a circular lined texture that creates a pleasing visual aesthetic. There is an open heart window at 6 o’clock that shows the moving of the mechanism. The golden roman numerals are paired square pyramid shaped indices. The 24 hour dual-time indicator showcases a lovely limited-edition sun and moon phase design. The Pionier star stands above this sub-dial. The thin and elegant pointer blue hands compliment the gold embellishments as well as the blue screws of the movement visible through the open heart window.
The Design
The clean look creates a lovely timeless aesthetic that matches well with all types of wear. You can sport Boston with your everyday attire as well as fancy outfits for a night out. However, this gorgeous timepiece pairs exceptionally well with suits and business wear. The white face/brown band combination can complement all color schemes. Whether you want to wear a white plain shirt or a patterned one, Boston is versatile enough that it can flawlessly blend with the rest of your look.
The Strap and buckle
Boston Pionier comes in a genuine cow leather band. The leather showcases a dark color which accentuates the white face furthermore. The fake crocodile skin pattern adds a nice touch of sophistication to the band. The butterfly buckle bears the Pionier logo. It is convenient to use, it maintains the leather strap and it acts as a nice stylish element to the band compared to standard clasps.
The feel
Upon strapping the Boston Pionier on my wrist I immediately noticed that it sits very well on my wrist. Although the size of this watch is approximately 44 mm without the crown, it doesn’t look bulky or oversized at all. The leather band is extremely comfortable, it doesn’t irritate my skin and it doesn’t tug on any hairs. The butterfly clasp is easy to use and nicely polished. The overall feel of the watch is pretty much weightless. I’ve worn Boston throughout the whole day and it didn’t become tiring not even once!
The Verdict
I’d say this watch scores a perfect 10 out of 10 in terms of both style, comfort and quality. Priced at around $350 it’s a bargain and a win for every watch collector. Boston Pionier offers an in-house movement, authentic design and dual-time function. Considering how German brands attest to some of the highest standards of quality in the whole industry, you are lucky to scratch a genuine timepiece at such an affordable price. All in all, I would highly recommend this watch for anyone who is looking for a classic timepiece that is perfect for all occasions.
